A little about me:

Lisa Otero Sullivan, LMFT

Lisa Otero Sullivan, LMFT

Welcome and thank you for taking a moment to learn more about me.  I am a wife for over 27 years, a mother of two adult sons as well as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT).  I was inspired to become a therapist after reading Harville Hendrix's book, Getting the Love You Want.  This book helped me to understand the relationships in my life in such a profound way, that I wanted to help other couples access the tools necessary to enjoy a thriving relationship.

Over the past ten years, I have worked closely with a diverse population of families facing varying complex concerns.  A highlight of my career is the honor of having worked with U.S. soldiers in a behavioral group setting at Memorial Hospital of Tampa.  Currently, I consider my area of expertise to include Relationship Issues and Trauma.

Professional Qualifications:

  • Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist MT2846, Florida

  • Suncoast Mental Health Counselors Association

  • Certified Accelerated Resolution Therapist, The Rosenweig Center for Rapid Recovery

  • Master of Arts, Marriage & Family Therapy, Argosy University

  • Bachelor of Arts, Psychology, University of South Florida

Why you should work with me:

As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I am trained to treat the individual, couple or entire family from a more holistic perspective.  I not only look at what is going on with the individual, but also at what is happening within the system to which they belong.

I use evidence-based approaches, such as The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy to empower people with the skills needed to improve communication, manage conflict and increase connectedness.

My style of therapy is current, empathetic, non-judgmental, and supportive.  I understand that modern relationships are dynamic and constantly evolving.  I have an appreciation for the myriad of challenges people face in today’s world. You name it, I have seen it and I am happy to help.
